No Maid Ban In Kuwait According To Phil Envoy

Philippine officials in Kuwait denied reports that the Philippine government is banning Filipino domestic workers from being deployed to Kuwait while new legislation is being ironed out to protect the workers.

In a report of "Kuwait Times," Ambassador Shulan Primavera belied news reports quoting "sources" that the Philippine was not allowing Filipino domestic workers to be deployed in Kuwait.

"The last update I received from the team that visited Kuwait last week was that the committee in the House of Representatives will review the Migrant Workers Act. So far, as we're talking, we haven't received any official statement or information from Manila, and all of my sources are denying it [that an official announcement has been issued]," Primavera said in an interview with Kuwait Times.
